About Us
Sycrad wasn't started in a boardroom. It was born from seeing enterprise annotation tools charge exorbitant fees while delivering browser-bound experiences.
Sycrad is designed and built by İsa Tunahan Öztürk, a graphics engineer and AI/ML researcher specializing in low-level systems. While building Sycrad's rendering infrastructure, he identified a bottleneck in Qt QRhi's Metal implementation and resolved it by introducing Metal Indirect Command Buffers. The patch was merged into Qt's dev branch in April, and he has remained an active Qt contributor ever since.
The project started with a straightforward need: a tool to annotate LiDAR point clouds rapidly and efficiently. Enterprise annotation platforms demanded exorbitant pricing models, enforced rigid data transfer restrictions, and offered sluggish browser-based interfaces tethered to cloud AI infrastructure. This approach introduced unavoidable latency, compounding bandwidth costs, and severe data privacy risks.
Sycrad was engineered to eliminate these compromises entirely through an on-device architecture, pairing high-precision algorithmic pipelines with upcoming local and cloud AI models to achieve uncompromising workstation performance without mandatory cloud dependencies.
Eleven months of dedicated solo development later, Sycrad is in pre-alpha.
